What the record says
The WTA announced Riyadh for 2024–26. Human Rights Watch criticized the choice on human-rights grounds. In July 2026 the WTA and STF said the WTA requested a move and they mutually ended hosting after 2025; the 2026 event was scheduled for Indian Wells.
Read this carefully. WTA and Saudi Tennis Federation mutually ended the hosting deal after two editions. HRW’s rights critique is an attributed assessment; cause of the move is unestablished.
